Relief Fund Closing

TERLINGUA—The Big Bend COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund will be sending out our final checks this month, August, 2020.

The Fund was established in March 2020 to help Brewster County residents deal with hardships caused by the pandemic. Volunteers from Alpine and Terlingua started the fund through Big Bend Citizens Alliance—a Terlingua-based non-profit organization.

The Fund has awarded over $67,000 to help residents and non-profits cover costs for housing and transportation, medical expenses, utilities, food, childcare needs and animal feed.

As we close out the Fund, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to the volunteers, organizations and private individuals who so generously donated their time and money. This has been an outstanding show of community support and we couldn’t have done it without you – THANK YOU.

Please continue to support the Big Bend Citizens Alliance. Visit https://bigbendcitizensalliance.org/ to learn more about the organization and how to get involved.

Unity Through Art

We want to continue to spread the message of love, caring and support for each other during these unprecedented times: Art helps heal our wounds. Unity through art.

Many artists of Big Bend have graciously offered images of their work to be featured on greeting cards and given as perks for donations to the Fund. Donations go to those residents who are most in need during this crisis and the art is yours to keep or can be sent to someone special who also needs a message of support.

Moving Forward….

The Big Bend Covid-19 Pandemic Relief Fund is once again ramping up efforts to provide emergency assistance to Brewster County residents who have lost income because of the pandemic. To date, the Fund has been an outstanding show of community support and we couldn’t do it without you – THANK YOU.

An unexpected quarantine or illness can be a devastating blow to the finances of people who have already been struggling to make ends meet. To streamline our efforts, the Fund volunteers have now partnered with established local charities, linking the chain of assistance together. With on-going support of our community advocates, we can continue to help individuals navigate the ever-changing world of government assistance and help with expenses such as rent or vehicle repairs that are not covered through other programs.

We would like to thank the National Parks Conservation Association for kicking off this next phase and supporting the Big Bend community. To donate to the relief fund online, visit bigbendaid.org. Checks made payable to Big Bend Citizens Alliance (with “pandemic relief fund” in the memo field) can be mailed to PO Box 202, Terlingua, TX 79852.
